|Hotels in Bhopal|
Bhopal is the capital of Madhya Pradesh -- and, literally, the centre of India. The city is laidback and charming. Several imposing monuments survive from its royal past, the lakes follow you everywhere, the air is clear, and the traffic without snarls. The old city, with its teeming market-places and fine old mosques and palaces, bears the imprint of its former rulers, and meanwhile the new city is blooming with exquisitely laid out parks, gardens and broad avenues, and modern architecture. Industrialisation is going on apace, but the industrial townships of Mandideep and Govindpura lie on the outskirts of the city. The city is also a gateway to the 3rd century Buddhist centre, Sanchi, and the Neolithic caves of Bhimbetka.
